Higher Level/Degree Apprentice of the Year - Andy

Andy - Higher Level/Degree Apprentice of the Year

South Devon College recently hosted its prestigious annual Apprenticeship Awards at The Grand Hotel in Torquay, where apprentices, businesses, staff, family, friends and key college stakeholders came together to salute the success of apprentices across the College and University Centre South Devon.

We are delighted to announce that our very own County Business Manager, in Integrated Adult Social Care, Andy came up trumps and won Higher Level/Degree Apprentice of the Year. Andy has recently completed a Level 5 Operations/Departmental Manager Apprenticeship with the college achieving a Distinction. Congratulations Andy!

On his win, Andy said:

“To be nominated for this award came as a bit of a shock! I worked hard to complete my Apprenticeship, meeting some fantastic talent from across different organisations and sectors in Devon. It was a real opportunity to tap into knowledge and experience from others and develop my own skills. The event itself was somewhat overwhelming, to be in a room surrounded by fellow nominees and hear some of the fantastic success stories and the difference and impact so many individuals had – truly inspiring. I can honestly say I left the event feeling a bit like a cat in headlights, but super proud of myself to have won the award for Higher/Degree Apprentice of the Year 2024, something I won’t forget in a hurry!”

Andy’s line manager, Mary has supported him along the way and shares in his achievement:

“I would like to congratulate Andy, after all his hard work and commitment he truly deserves this award. Andy is a key member of my management team and is keen to continually learn and develop, he also supports others to do the same with a clear desire to support continuous improvement in the organisation. Andy always takes opportunities to network and learn from others. Andy, you should be “super proud” of yourself, I am and so are your colleagues”.
