2018 Graduation Ceremony

The DCC 2018 Apprentice Graduation Ceremony

Congratulations to all of our apprentices who graduated on the 15th November 2018 from the Devon County Council Apprenticeship Scheme.

This year was our 10th Apprenticeship Graduation Ceremony and we had 15 apprentices graduate from our Business Administration, Civil Engineering and Town Planning schemes.

The ceremony took place in the Coaver Conference Hall and the Apprenticeship Team arrived in the morning to set up. The Conference Hall was decorated with helium and blow up balloons, streamers, bunting and metallic ribbons and sequences for the tables. The team also created a display board full of photos and quotes of the graduating apprentices from throughout their apprenticeship which included their volunteering challenge, FarmWise event, receiving their first year certificates at the 2017 ceremony and so on.

The guest began to arrive after 1:30pm, each apprentice brought either family or friends to attend the afternoon and with the ceremony starting at 2pm they has plenty of time to mingle and enjoy the ceremony's famous cupcakes along with a tea or coffee. Guests also included Councillors, Senior Officers and Training Providers.

Each year the ceremony begins with Jacky Wilson, Head of HR giving a welcome and opening address, she highlighted the fact that over 100 apprentices are now employed throughout the authority. We then began with the presentation of certificates for the graduating apprentices, managers of each apprentice came up and give a short 5 minute speech about their apprentice followed by the apprentice coming up to receive their certificate from the Chair of Devon County Council, Councillor Caroline Chugg and  to have their photo taken. We had a lovely PowerPoint presentation from Tracey Mills and Martin Hutchings for their apprentices Amy Kyme and Rowena Garne and also Scomis created a brilliant video for their apprentice Lauren Hunt. Once all apprentices received their certificates we had a few words from the Chair and to end the afternoon Jacky Wilson came up one last time with a closing address and thanks.

Congratulations to Abigail Farr, Aimee Bond, Amy Kyme, Gabby Stevens, Lauren Hunt, Max Williams, Rhiannon Whyte, Rowena Garne and Zack Hide who completed level 2 & 3 Business Administration Apprenticeships and Olivia Mitchell who completed a level 4 Business Administration Apprenticeship. Unfortunately our Civil Engineering graduates could not attend the Ceremony but congratulations to Brandon Stent, Conn0r Denning, Ryan Bennett and Sam Williams who competed level 3 Civil Engineering Apprenticeships and Rowan Hodgson who completed a level 3 Town Planning Apprenticeship.

Finally a big thank you to Jackie Salter who organised the event and the rest of the Apprenticeship Team, Amy Kyme, Gemma Wright and Tracey Mills who helped to support the event.
