FarmWise 2017

The Apprentices with the Lord Mayor of Exeter.

Farm wise is an event held every year in October at WestPoint Arena and also every May at the Devon County show. The event is for primary school students to attend and learn about the farming industry and where their food comes from.

Over the past 5 years around 18,000 primary school students have attended. On the day the children will visit different zones which include having farm animals, farming activities, food making/baking, and also knowledge sections on what happens on the farms of Devon.  All the zone leaders volunteer to help out on the day and arrive early to set up their zone for the primary students.

The Apprentices got involved with tasks as such, giving the school teacher their packs for the day, signing in the VIP guests, making teas & coffees for the zone leaders and also assisting the zone leaders when help was needed.

The apprentices even had some spare time to wonder around and enjoy some of the zones as well!  This year was the first year that the apprentices of Devon County Council got involved and it was a great success.
