"Hi, I’m Adam and I have been working in DAP for 1 year as a Data Analysist apprentice. During my time here, I’ve learnt valuable information about auditing and how to incorporate Data analytics within audits to give more assurance to these service areas. The support in DAP is brilliant and they have been valuable with assisting with my apprenticeship.  DAP are very welcoming in helping find the tasks I need to accomplish for my studies to a high level. My future aspirations are to able help further progress DAP with Data analytics and produce even better and more factual reports by providing visual graphics and accurate stats. I’m halfway through my apprenticeship and overall working for DAP and the apprenticeship is going well."

"Hello, I’m Ola and I have been working in Devon Audit Partnership (DAP) for over 2 years. I started my audit career by undertaking a Business Administration apprenticeship, which I completed successfully with a Pass grade last April. Since then, I have had the opportunity to progress further within DAP by undertaking an apprenticeship in Internal Audit with the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors, which I am due to finish at the end of the year. Both apprenticeship’s have offered me a wide range of experiences, development of skills and a much greater understanding of audit and processes. DAP offers fantastic opportunities for people of all ages, and they provide a lot of support along the way in order for everyone to succeed. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as an apprentice and I looking forward to the different opportunities DAP will be able to offer in the future."

Ola, Internal Audit Apprentice

"Hi, I'm Arby Jones. I started working for Devon Audit Partnership in November 2021 as a Trainee Internal Audit Practitioner. Alongside my daily role, I am undertaking a Level 4 Cyber Security Technologist apprenticeship, that has a focus on Risk Analysis.

As outlined by the IIA in the Risk in Focus for 2023 report, cybersecurity and data security is the number one risk for organisations within the next three years. As such, I am in a really exciting position to learn the fundamentals of cybersecurity through my apprenticeship, alongside the current trends, risks, and issues that organisations are facing in relation to cybersecurity during my daily role. Both of which enable me to provide assurance to our clients in such a key risk area.

The support I have received in DAP has been great, whether it be help on a technical audit, or assistance in gathering evidence to support my studies. I'm hoping that following the completion of my apprenticeship, I can gain the necessary on the job experience in IS/IT auditing to obtain the Certified Information Systems Auditor qualification from ISACA. Thus, becoming a valuable asset not only the DAP, but to all of our clients."

Arby, Internal Audit Apprentice

“Hello, my name is Ethan and I have been working with DAP since May 2021 so coming up two years this summer. I came into DAP originally providing administrative support but have since worked in Risk Management and Internal Audit for a number of our clients. My experience has grown dramatically in these areas since I have started and that is solely down to the support I receive here at DAP and from my apprenticeship provider MBKB Training - Ofsted OUTSTANDING provider.

My managers have helped me to develop by giving me a variety of audits to be a part of, from Key Financial System audits to EU Grant audits to Risk Based audits. They have given me experienced staff to work alongside to assist my development and more recently given me audits to take responsibility for with oversight by senior staff. This has really given me confidence in my job role and I can’t thank them enough.

When it comes to my apprenticeship, twenty percent of my working time is allowed in study which has been really useful. The tuition I receive from the provider MBKB has also been great aid alongside my on the job experience.

When I look at my future, I am excited. DAP provides so many opportunities to develop, learn and progress that I have such positive thoughts for my future."

Ethan, Internal Audit Apprentice

"Hi, I’m Pandora and I am an Internal Auditor for Devon Audit Partnership. I began my career with the Local Authority in 2018 as a Level 3 Business Administration Apprentice, where I was given the opportunity to complete ‘placements’ in various Finance Services departments. One of those departments was the internal audit team and during this placement I decided I wished to pursue a career in Internal Audit.

In 2020, following completion of my Business Administration apprenticeship, I was given the opportunity to return to DAP and undertake a Level 4 Internal Audit Practitioner apprenticeship. I have just completed my final end point assessment and await the results of my exams at the time of this post.

During my apprenticeship I have attended IIA facilitated workshops on subjects such as Corporate Governance and Risk Management, delivered by well known professionals including auditors who have participated in writing the definition of Internal Auditing. I have covered a range of relevant knowledge, skills and experience as part of a 1 to 1 training programme delivered by my training provider, MBKB Training - Ofsted OUTSTANDING provider, and been awarded the Internal Audit Practitioner designation by the IIA. My apprenticeship programme has encouraged regular reflection that has enabled me to make close links between the learning I have received and how I have then utilised this in my audit work.

DAP have supported me to continuously improve my skills and the complexity of the work I deliver – from assisting my colleagues on grant work and schools audits, to more recently being supported to take the lead on more complex and adhoc pieces of work that challenge me to apply my theory and understanding of internal auditing into creating audit briefs and work programmes from scratch.

I am excited about my future with DAP and my continuous professional development. I would like to build on my learning with more qualifications such as CIA or AAT. In the future I would like to pursue further specialisms, such as project management or IT security consultancy and assurance. My apprenticeships have given me the opportunity to take responsibility for and build an enthusiasm for learning and development that I hope will continue for the rest of my career."

Pandora, Internal Audit Apprentice
